LITTLE WALDINGFIELD PARISH ROOM

CHAIRMAN’S REPORT

APRIL 2018

The year started, of course, with the presentation and thanks at the 2017 AGM for the work over the years of the retiring Trustees, most of whom held important roles in the development and upkeep of our Parish Room over a considerable time.

I remember at our first trustee meeting after last year’s AGM, the apprehension of us all, but it has been gratifying to report that over the past year, the progress, development and maintenance of the room has been kept on course by the “new team” of trustees, albeit a team containing a couple of “established” figures. Please refer to the previous AGM minutes for full details).

The report of use of our room in our next agenda item, our accounts, will indicate a continuing use of the facility for the community, whether for village functions (particularly, I should mention, regular Little Waldingfield History Society meetings), coffee mornings, Parish meetings (this year, of course, with the neighbourhood plan taking a centre stage), as well as our own fundraising events towards enhancements and maintenance (in this case, particularly, our continuance of “The Quiz” throughout the year which has always proved popular and raises much needed funds). My personal thanks go to fellow trustees, who uncomplainingly take on the various tasks associated with our events); it has been pleasing to see, recently, the completion of a new ceiling and refreshment of decoration in the Kitchen. “Health and Safety” will continue to be our highest consideration.

In conclusion I would like to thank, on behalf of my fellow trustees, Barbara (Campbell) who, although not a trustee, volunteered to act (and has performed far more diligently than the weekly clock-winder) as our Minutes secretary throughout the year.
