Stay Safe Places

What are Stay Safe Places?

If an individual is feeling scared or need help they can go into a Stay Safe Place and present their card. The staff may find somewhere they can sit quietly or phone an emergency contact that may be able to meet them and take them home. If required they will also call emergency services.

Businesses including; libraries, leisure centres, shops, restaurants, banks, pubs and voluntary organisations and charities can join the scheme by displaying an A5 Stay Safe window sticker clearly in their main window and be provided with information on the scheme.

The Suffolk Stay Safe Scheme started in Felixstowe and now other towns are getting involved. At present we have Stay Safe places in the following towns and villages:

Aldeburgh, Beccles, Brandon, Eye, Felixstowe, Haverhill, Ipswich, Kesgrave, Lowestoft, Mildenhall, Needham Market, Newmarket, Saxmundham, Stowmarket, Sudbury, Wickham Market, Woodbridge.

We hope that by the end of 2014 there will be Stay Safe Places in every town in Suffolk. Go to the main Stay Safe page for a list of places taking part in the scheme. If your business would like to become a Stay Safe Place or if you would like to support us in expanding the scheme, then please contact us.

It is not asking more of staff than they would probably already do, but by displaying the Stay Safe symbol, they are promoting that they are able and willing to help. The familiar symbol enables people to recognise the business as a place of safety.

Please could you put this information on your local Parish websites, if you require any further information please let me know.

Many thanks
